The Painted Vessel, Hay Festival Exhibition
19 May - 30 Jun, 2018
Brook Street Pottery & Gallery
Exhibition Invitation
The Painted Vessel presents work by nine of the finest ceramic artists working in the British Isles.
This exhibition celebrates the symbolic authenticity of the ceramic vessel and brings together a selection of stunning ceramic pieces both functional and decorative.
These well-crafted works range from subtle to bold slip-ware techniques that make the end results one-of-a-kind and highly deserving of the attention they receive.
“I use mark making and drawing techniques to create rich, painterly surfaces on slab built vessel forms that suggest landscapes.” - Craig Underhill
“My work is figurative, expressive and narrative and is inspired by stories and themes.” - Jitka Palmer
“The way I throw clay, is the same approach I take to drawing and painting, intuitive and spontaneous.” - Barry Stedman
The exhibition will include work from ceramic artists John Pollex, Jitka Palmer, Craig Underhill, Kyra Cane, Anna Lambert, Barry Stedman, Sara Palmer, Richard Wilson and Elke Sade. Paintings by Ray Sheldon and jewellery by Leoma Drew will also be on show.
This exhibition is a great opportunity to acquire highly collectable ceramics that are perfect for any design-led home.
Join us at Brook Street Pottery & Gallery for the Private View on May 19, 2018, 11am to 3pm.
The exhibition continues until Jun 30, 2018.
The Brook Street Pottery & Gallery is open from Wed to Sat 10.30am to 5pm.
